Ave. du Parc, Je me Souviens

Being such a historic street, with deep significance for so many people in Montreal, the public is invited to send in art and memorabilia pertaining to Ave du Parc. Letters, historic photographs, signs, and general memorabilia are all encouraged.

In mid November, all items submitted will go on display. Included in the display will be some remarks and formal letters which the public has written against the name change. Together, we will show all Montrealer what Ave du Parc means to us.

I attended the Outremont Council meeting tonight (Monday Nov 6) and posed the question requesting a solidarity motion to have their council support our stand on the name change. Mayor Stephane Harbour told me that "it is not yet clear where my councilors stand on this issue. I am getting about 30 e-mails a day on this and we haven't yet made up out minds. It is still open to us. We will decide on the 27th of November." I would suggest that all of our Outremont members and supporters get to the Mayor with their views as soon and as forcefully -with good argumentation- as soon as possible.
